Ketchikan
Highlight: We were blessed again with another sunny day. Ketchikan is a vibrant port that usually gets a lot of cruise ship activity. Indeed, we were one of four ships in port for the day, so the streets were crowded. We ventured off on our own to hike Married Man's Trail, which is located at the back of Creek Street and quickly ascends into the hills over the city for an excellent view of the marina.
What else: After our hike and exploration of the creek that runs through town (it was too early for the salmon to be running), we stopped into our favorite drinking hole for a beverage. The Arctic Bar is located just outside the cruise terminal and has a great local feel. I have been to Ketchikan three times and have made sure to stop in each time to see owner Paula Weisel, who is always eager to chat with out-of-towners and immediately makes you feel like part of her family.
