12 Awesome Things You Can Do For Free on Allure of the Seas

Allure of the Seas, left, is one of the largest cruise ships in the world. It's able to carry 5,400 passengers. Here, it's docked next to Celebrity Beyond in Cozumel.
By John Roberts
Allure of the Seas is one of the throwback mega-ships that once held the catchy designation "Largest Cruise Ship in the World."
First, there was Oasis of the Seas, and then sister ship Allure. Royal Caribbean has been masterful in designing each new ship in the class that is a little bit bigger so that it grabs that Biggest Cruise Ship title and the accompanying article headlines that help in the cruise line's brand-awareness efforts. (The current largest is Wonder of the Seas, as of 2023.)
I have sailed on a couple of these world-class ships -- Symphony of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas -- but those represent newer iterations of the Oasis Class ships. Allure of the Seas had its first sailing in 2010. It carries up to 5,400 passengers and relocated to its new home port in Galveston, Texas. This is where I hopped onboard with my friend Kevin to check out the largest cruise ship ever to sail from Texas.
We discovered the best things that you can do for free on Allure of the Seas.
Picture
The zipline on Allure of the Seas gives you a short but scenic ride high above the Boardwalk.
1. The Zipline
Allure of the Seas has a number of fun activities and attractions that cruisers can enjoy during their cruises. There is creative use of space on this massive ship. At the very top, cruisers can latch into a harness and take a zipline ride that crosses over the top of The Boardwalk neighborhood that is located on Deck 6 -- some 10 decks below.
The line is more than 80 feet long, and the ride is over quickly but it's a thrill to blast across a few times for a thrilling look at the ship from a bird's-eye view.
Picture
Allure of the Seas has two Flowriders, and cruisers can try to boogie board or surf.
2. The Flowrider
You can go surfing and boogie boarding on a cruise ship. Allure of the Seas features two Flowrider simulated surf areas at the back of the ship up on Deck 16. The ship's daily program offers times when cruisers can try the boogie board option or hop on for a little surfing. Members of the sports team help you get set up and give you tips so that you can be riding like an expert by the end of your cruise.
Picture
Allure of the Seas offers a few pool areas for cruisers to choose from.
3. Splash Around in the Pools and Solarium
Cruisers will be happy to find plenty of options for pools on Allure of the Seas. While many big ships offer one main pool, Allure of the Seas has three large pools at the resort area on Deck 15. The Sports Pool, Beach Pool and Main Pool are complemented by a fun H2O Zone kids and family splash area.
There is also a serene adults-only Solarium pool area, which is connected to a bar above and a pair of hot tubs that flank the enclosed all-weather space. This is a great place to escape the crowds and enjoy a refreshing dip.
Picture
Sorrento's pizza is open almost all the time and is one of several eateries that you can enjoy at no extra cost.
4. Fill Up On Food
The restaurants on Allure of the Seas include a number of eateries included in your cruise fare. My favorites are Wipeout Cafe, which was set up as a fantastic taco bar during lunchtime on my cruise, and Johnny Rockets. Note: Johnny Rockets is complimentary only at breakfast time (a flat-fee cover charge for lunches and dinners), but I loved having a hot made-to-order hearty breakfast that I could enjoy while seated outdoors on the Boardwalk.
Sorrento's is the delicious and convenient pizza place on the Royal Promenade, and it also features tasty antipasto items like meats, cheese, olives and marinated peppers. It's open all day until late, and offers a wide variety of pizzas. The Windjammer Marketplace is the buffet restaurant on Allure of the Seas, and you can also find a wide range of foods on the menu at the Main Dining Room on the ship. This is a multi-level grand space where you can get a more-formal dining experience for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Wait there's a lot more!
Included meals are available at the Solarium Bistro -- a scaled-down version of the Windjammer buffet that's open for breakfast and lunch and often features a few more healthy items.
Park Cafe (open for breakfast time and all afternoon) is located in the Central Park neighborhood and offers fast-casual food like hot and cold sandwiches, hearty salads, cookies, coffees and more. This is where you can find Royal Caribbean's legendary Kummelweck hot roast beef sandwich.
Vitality Spa Cafe located just outside the fitness center and spa offers a small selection of light bites like fruit, yogurt and sandwiches with an emphasis on healthy fare.
Cafe Promenade on the ship's Royal Promenade is the bustling coffee shop that also serves up sweet treats like cookies, cakes, and brownies and small specialty sammies.
For some snack food to feed your cravings, head to the Boardwalk for the Boardwalk Donut Shop and Boardwalk Dog House, where you can get a classic Coney Island-style hot dog or even a savory chicken sausage on a parmesan and cheddar baguette.
Picture
Aqua Theater on Allure of the Seas is the place to see high-flying water shows.
5. See the Shows
Entertainment is a centerpiece of a sailing on one of the biggest cruise ships in the world, of course. Allure of the Seas offers a nice range of high-quality shows. The Broadway smash hit "Mamma Mia" is the featured production in the ship's Amber Theater, with matinee and evening shows. You can also find live music and comedy performances here in the ship's main theater. The ship also features a Comedy Club where comics roam the stage late-night and have the audience cracking up.
The high-energy high-dive and aqua show "OceanAria" takes places at the Aqua Theater on Allure of the Seas. This is a spectacularly energetic performance with music, tumbling, comedy and jaw-dropping high dives incorporated into the action.
The ship has an ice-skating theater down in Studio B, and this is the venue for athletic ice shows. We saw a production called "Ice Games" during our sailing. These shows are performed by an international cast of world-class skaters.
You can also find a number of fun shows and live music performances at the bars and lounges on Allure of the Seas. During my cruise, the program offered an a cappella group MOSAIC, a Caribbean-themed band poolside daily, a country music trio, a group playing Latin hits, a guitarist, a piano player, a Michael Jackson tribute show and plenty of jazz music in the intimate venue Jazz on 4.
Picture
You can always find live music around the cruise ship. A Caribbean music band keeps the fun vibe going poolside every day.
6. Keep Fit
The fitness center and spa on Allure of the Seas is a huge facility that rivals any place you might find at a resort or health club on land. The ship's Vitality Fitness Center includes dozens of treadmills, bikes and elliptical machines.
Plus, you have all kinds of space for stretching and individual workouts, with weight machine stations and a large mat area and benches with dumbbells and other free weights. There also is a half-mile-long enclosed jogging and walking track on Alure of the Seas. This track is fantastic for avid runners and walkers. It gets you out into the fresh air but keeps you protected from harsh sun. Plus, it's located down on Deck 5 away from the busy lido deck areas and all the people hanging out by the pool and in sun loungers. (The pool deck is where you will typically find the jogging track on most cruise ships.)

7. Party on the Promenade
The Royal Promenade on Allure of the Seas is kind of like the town square on the ship. In addition to being a great place for people watching, the promenade, which runs through most of the length of the ship on Deck 5, puts you close to a variety of bars, lounges and eateries.
This is also where you can take part in sailaway parties and themed parades. These shows are fantastic spectacles.

8. Dive-In Movies and More
The ship shows recent releases and other popular movies outside on the pool deck. You can relax in a lounger, bask in the warm ocean breezes under the stars and watch a flick or live sporting event on a 220-foot hi-def screen.

9. Ride the Rising Tide
The Rising Tide bar is a cool attraction, though perhaps a bit gimmicky. You can settle in for a drink and some live music at the elliptical-shaped venue. Walk into the place on Deck 5 from the Royal Promenade and ride the bar up to Deck 8 to hang out at Central Park -- or vice-versa. Or just stay there for hours and ride it up and down a few times. The Rising Tide lists its schedule at the entrance, so you know when it will be on the move.
It's a fun perch from which to people watch during your ride.

10. Enjoy a Spin on the Carousel
The Boardwalk on Allure of the Seas is located at the back of the ship in an open-air space on Deck 6. Walk outside to go past an art installation showing the process of carving large wooden carousel horses. Then, pass by Boardwalk Donuts and Boardwalk Dogs before you reach the lovely vintage-looking carousel.
We always see adults hopping on the horses with or without kids in tow. And all have smiles on their faces because the ride brings back fun memories of younger days at carnivals and amusement parks.
Picture
Allure of the Seas has a skating rink where you can watch a show or enjoy a little skating time yourself on the cruise.
11. Blades of Glory
We mentioned that Allure of the Seas has a skating rink. Not only can you watch spectacular professional skating shows here, but you also can strap on the blades yourself. The program offers plenty of open skate times for cruisers who want to take a few spins around the rink. The sessions run for about 45 minutes, and it's neat to be able to cool off with some ice skating when you're sailing in a hot spot like the Caribbean.

12. Take Your Best Shot
The sports courts on Allure of the Seas are huge. The daily program offers times to play sports like basketball (with open play or 3-point or free-throw shooting contests in the mix), pickleball and soccer.
Nearby, you'll also find a fun mini-golf course and ping-pong tables. So, you have plenty of ways to get in some exercise and enjoy a little friendly competition with fellow cruisers out in the fresh air.

Have fun on your next trip!

25 Things to Love About Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas

8/29/2021

Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas
We were on one of the very first sailings of Odyssey of the Seas and found a lot to love about this new big cruise ship from Royal Caribbean.
By John Roberts
Odyssey of the Seas is the second ship in Royal Caribbean's incredibly innovative Quantum Ultra class, joining sister ship Spectrum of the Seas. Odyssey is the fifth ship in the "Quantum" series, overall, which also includes the very similar ships Quantum of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas.
We sailed on one of the very first cruises on Odyssey of the Seas and discovered a wide range of venues and activities that you will absolutely love. The ship can carry up to 4,200 passengers.
Check out our roundup:
Bumper cars at SeaPlex on Odyssey of the Seas.
The SeaPlex complex at the top of the ship features a bumper cars arena that also serves as a sports court for basketball, pickleball and many more activities.
SeaPlex
This is a massive multi-use indoor complex at the top of the ship. SeaPlex features a full-court basketball/soccer court that is also the bumper cars arena. You can also enjoy such activities as pickleball, cornhole, ping pong, archery and Zumba fitness classes in there.
It redefines the top-of-ship space that you'll find on most large cruise ships. Athletes will love it because it allows for games in all types of weather, and the wind and extreme heat and sunshine also will have no impact when you want to shoot hoops or enjoy a soccer or pickleball game.
Speaking of sports, SeaPlex is also the location for the spectacular Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade (more on that below).
Giovanni's Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar on Odyssey of the Seas
Giovanni's is just one of 16 dining locations onboard Odyssey of the Seas.
The Restaurants
Odyssey of the Seas features 16 restaurants and eateries. These include popular staples like Sorrento's (pizza and more), El Loco Fresh (Mexican fare like tacos, burritos and quesadillas located on the pool deck), Izumi (Japanese), Teppanyaki (Japanese hibachi), Giovanni's Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar, Chops Grille (steakhouse), Cafe Promenade, Cafe@270 (light fare for breakfast and lunch), Windjammer Cafe (buffet), Playmakers (sports bar), Wonderland (molecular gastronomy), Solarium Bistro (healthy Mediterranean fare) and a Chef's Table (multicourse set wine pairing meal), as well as the Main Dining Room. Also, Coastal Kitchen is a restaurant dedicated for passengers staying in suites.
The classic double cheeseburger and fries at Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade on Odyssey of the Seas.
The classic double cheeseburger and fries at Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade on Odyssey of the Seas.
Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade
This sports bar and arcade stands out on its own as the best sports bar at sea. It's located within the SeaPlex and sits on the second level overlooking the bumper car arena/sports court. Playmakers offers 56 big-screen TVs, with a massive screen hanging over the SeaPlex court. There are also bar games like shuffleboard, pool tables and foosball.
The menu features a nice mix of traditional comfort bar foods, such as chicken wings, onion rings and burgers, but you will also love the poke nachos, tenders and especially the Campfire Cookie -- a decadent dessert made with warm chocolate chip cookie baked with marshmallows and Nutella, served with milk shooters!
The fitness center on Odyssey of the Seas
The gym on Odyssey of the Seas is outfitted just like a top-notch fitness center on land.
Fitness Center
This is a full-fledged large-scale gym, just like you will find on land. We went daily for workouts at the facility, which includes free weights (dumbbells up to 100), a Smith machine, resistance training machines, individual workout areas, personal training, a spin studio and all kinds of cardio equipment.
Picture
Royal Esplanade
The hub of the ship covers two decks midship (on Decks 4 and 5) and is loaded with bars, lounges, eateries and boutique shops selling all kinds of items, from clothes and jewelry to souvenirs, Royal Caribbean logo wear and basic necessities. This is also where you will find the Guest Services desk.
Picture
Pool Deck
This is a resort area on Decks 14 and 15 with two pools in the main open area (there is a pool and hot tubs also in the enclosed adults-only Solarium space at the front of the ship), including a kids splash zone with slides, loungers, hammocks and casitas (for rent). The El Loco Fresh restaurant serving up Mexican delights is nearby, and you can stay refreshed with frozen cocktails and more available at the two-story Lime and Coconut bar. A jogging track encircles the deck overlooking the main pool area.
The Solarium is an adults-only pool and bar area on Odyssey of the Seas.
The Solarium is an adults-only area on Odyssey of the Seas.
Solarium
An air-conditioned space at the back of the ship's resort deck. The Solarium features a cascading set of three shallow pools that lead to a little splash area with loungers offering views out of floor-to-ceiling windows at the very front of Deck 14. You'll also enjoy the nearby Sunshine Bar and numerous tables, chairs and lounge areas where you can relax with friends.
The FlowRider surfing simulator on Odyssey of the Seas
FlowRider
This is the popular surfing simulator that has been a feature on so many Royal Caribbean ships. Odyssey of the Seas offers a FlowRider on the top deck back by the RipCord skydiving simulator and the new Sky Pad trampoline attraction. On FlowRider, you can enjoy sessions of wakeboarding or surfing, and you can even book a training session for lessons on the basics of how to surf.
Ripcord by iFly on Odyssey of the Seas
The skydiving simulator is a blast, taking you soaring above the sea.
Ripcord by iFly
This skydiving simulator is a true thrill ride, using a large wind tube rising off the back of the ship. It's quite the spectacle to watch fellow cruisers take their turn at free flight. Faces blasted with wind but with unmistakable looks of joy as they experience weightlessness. Once you get the hang of it, you might even try a few tumbling tricks in the tube (advanced progression lessons are available).
The SkyPad on Odyssey of the Seas
The SkyPad experience on Odyssey of the Seas combines trampoline, bungee and virtual reality.
Sky Pad
This is a new and fun bungee trampoline activity, with a virtual reality component. There are four trampolines inside a dome structure at the top of the ship, adjacent to the FlowRider and Ripcord by iFly area. This is Sky Pad.
You get amazing views off the aft of the ship from up there, by the way.
Cruisers get strapped in with bungee cords and jump up and down on mini-trampoline. You can choose to enjoy just the jumping without the VR component, or you can choose from a menu of games and strap on the VR headset to bounce your way through challenges and courses, during which you will blast items by targeting them with your eyes. Your score appears on a main board, as you match up against fellow cruisers for bragging rights on the leaderboard.
Rock climbing wall on Odyssey of the Seas
The rock climbing wall offers views from the starboard side of Odyssey of the Seas.
Rock Climbing Wall
Another Royal Caribbean staple. This activity is a challenging one, but it yields amazing views for those who can scale the wall (it offers many routes for beginners to experts) and ring the bell.
Music Hall on Odyssey of the Seas
The Music Hall is a grand two-level space for live music, dancing, trivia and other activities.
Music Hall
A two-level (Decks 3 and 4) venue, this is a magnificent space with warm and comfortable decor. The large bar area on the top level features an array of seating where you can tuck away for privacy or place yourself on the balcony overlooking the live music or other activities (trivia, game shows, port talks) taking place on the stage below. On the first level, you find plenty of plush seating spots, another bar and pleasant works of art to create an inviting atmosphere.
Two70 theater and lounge on Odyssey of the Seas
"Book" was the featured show in Two70 during our sailing on Odyssey of the Seas.
Two70
A centerpiece of Odyssey of the Seas. Two270 is an incredibly innovative space that serves as a massive and inviting lounge area during the day -- with almost two-story-high windows giving 270-degree views out to the ocean as you sail. There is a library on the second level of Two270, and the space is warmly decorated with all kinds of seats, chairs, daybeds arranged around the room, so you can disappear from the crowds to enjoy a book.
In the evening, the room comes to life with dance parties and shows filled with technological wonders to make use of the 12K video screens. A large wraparound screen (135 feet wide and 22 feet tall) is the backdrop "living wallpaper" for the show, and a six-panel moving digital robotic screens that hang from the ceiling and interact with the music and performers.
We saw the featured show "Book: Seven Chapters, One Adventure" during our Caribbean cruise.
Starbucks on Odyssey of the Seas
Odyssey of the Seas features a big Starbucks coffee outlet.
Starbucks
The premium specialty coffee chain has big store on the Royal Esplanade (extra cost), and Royal Caribbean cruisers continue to flock here for their favorite coffee concoctions every morning -- or any time of day, really.
The Schooner Bar on Odyssey of the Seas
The Schooner Bar is a classic piano bar and always a lively spot on Odyssey of the Seas.
Schooner Bar
This a Royal Caribbean classic piano bar and always a favorite hangout for loyal Royal cruisers and newbies alike. This is where you come to hang out with new friends, enjoy the piano player, sing along, play trivia and chum it up with the friendly bartenders. On Odyssey of the Seas, the Schooner Bar -- with its traditional maritime decor, complete with a boat wheel -- occupies a spot on Deck 5 overlooking a corner of the Royal Esplanade, and it offers couches, chairs and seats around the centerpiece bar.
Boleros on Odyssey of the Seas
Boleros
This is a vibrant lounge on Deck 4 on the Royal Esplanade. You can settle in at the bar or find a comfy seat to enjoy live music and activities like bar quizzes.
The Crown and Compass on Odyssey of the Seas
The Crown and Compass on Odyssey of the Seas is the latest in the popular British pub concept for Royal Caribbean.
Crown and Compass
The English Pub is a Royal Caribbean standard, and this bar located on the Esplanade is a warm and welcoming venue serving up cold pints and live music.
North Star on Odyssey of the Seas
North Star takes you 300 feet above sea level for views over the ship and destinations.
North Star on Odyssey of the Seas
North Star
This attraction offers cruisers a unique perspective from high above Odyssey of the Seas. It's a capsule ride (in the style of the famed London Eye carousel that sits adjacent to the Thames River), and passengers load in for a gentle ride, lifted by a large mechanical arm that can hoist the glass capsule about 300 feet into the air and deliver 360-degree views of the ship and it's surrounding scenery.
Zone Zero on Odyssey of the Seas
Zone Zero is an incredibly fun virtual reality experience at the SeaPlex on Odyssey of the Seas.
Virtual Adventure Zone Zero
We tried the "Swashbuckler" adventure that places you into a virtual reality world where you are tasked with completing a mission. We suited up in our VR headset and garb (our armor) and entered a room to choose our pirate avatar before dashing off on fun-filled adventure fighting off invading monkey skeletons and ultimately the Kraken! It's a blast, and I was stunned by the tech used. It was my first VR experience.
Royal Esplanade on Odyssey of the Seas
We had a fun time sailing on the ship. I hope you get a chance to cruise on Odyssey of the Seas soon. It's wonderful for families, couples, older cruisers and groups of friends, offering something for everyone.

Eight Best Attractions on Cruise Ships

3/16/2020

SkyRide on Carnival Horizon.
SkyRide on Carnival Horizon.
By John Roberts
Every year, cruise lines are coming up with bigger, bolder and more fun activities and features to offer cruisers. The idea is to design a ship so bold and buzzworthy that it draws travelers who just have to try it out.
We've sailed on quite a few new cruise ships in recent years, vessels that have somehow squeezed in innovative and entertaining venues and activities that no one had thought of before. These eight ships are real trend-setters in the cruise industry because of these standout features.

SkyRide
 on Carnival Horizon
This ride is a pedal-powered experience. You hop in the seat and start pumping to glide along the rail that encircles the perimeter of Carnival Horizon. SkyRide gives you incredible views all around from your unique perch.
Two riders at a time propel themselves on side-by-side tracks, and you can choose to race one another or just sit back and simply enjoy the sights as you make your circuit.
This is a free activity, and the ride is also available on sister ship Carnival Vista.
Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas Ripcord by IFly
Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas features Ripcord by iFly, a virtual skydiving experience.
Skydiving on Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas.
The RipCord by iFly skydiving simulator is located at the back of Anthem of the Seas and is another great attraction for thrill-seekers.
A wind machine in the big tunnel allows riders to feel as if they are free falling through the sky during this included activity. Instructors help you get in in the flow, explaining the best body positions so you can soar and get comfortable enough to try a few tricks once you get the hang of it.  This activity is included in your cruise fare.
Go-kart track on Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Bliss
The fun go-kart race track on top of Norwegian Bliss.
Go-Kart Racing on Norwegian Bliss.
This is a true race track, with tiny Formula One cars zipping around the course that features hairpin turns, two levels and a garage area.
It's a blast. The track is about 1,000 feet long, and you can expect to race for about five to six laps and against about nine other drivers during each session.
This activity requires a fee. You can buy an unlimited pass for your cruise (about $100 for a weeklong cruise) or pay per ride ($10). There is also an unlimited daily ride pass for $30.
You can find tracks on sister ships Norwegian Encore and Norwegian Joy.
Celebrity Edge's magic Carpet
The Magic Carpet on Celebrity Edge is an adjustable cantilevered platform to add flexible space to four deck areas.
The Magic Carpet on Celebrity Edge.
This innovative feature on Celebrity Edge serves as a flexible cantilevered space that can move among four designated decks.
The combination bar and lounge area is a floating platform that can be positioned at Deck 16 for "Dinner on the Edge" dining experiences. It moves to the Lido Deck 14 to add a bar and lounge to the pool deck. On Deck 5, it serves as an al fresco dining space for Raw on 5, the sushi and seafood eatery.
Down at Deck 2, it becomes a launch platform to tender ashore from the ship's Destination Gateway facility. The Magic Carpet has comfy seating, a full bar and space for live music acts.
The Ultimate Abyss on Harmony of the Seas
The Ultimate Abyss is a thrilling slide on Harmony of the Seas.
Ultimate Abyss on Harmony of the Seas.
This included thrill ride is a dry slide. You hop on a mat speed down through twisty tunnels that extend off the back of the ship and carry you more than 100 feet, from Deck 16 (the sports deck) down to Deck 6, which is the Boardwalk area of the ship.
It's over in about 12 seconds and will have you screaming with joy all the way. Plus, it's way more fun and a much quicker option to taking the stairs or elevator.
Ultimate Abyss is also on Symphony of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas.
Ropes course of Norwegian Escape
You can walk the plank and face numerous other challenges on the ropes course on Norwegian Escape.
Ropes Course on Norwegian Escape.
This is the largest ropes course at sea, and it offers an almost infinite number of ways you can choose to navigate around the course. The course has a lot of cool features that will please daredevils and maybe freak you out if you are afraid of heights. It can be scary but is completely safe, as you are hooked in a harness and connected to a line the whole time.
The obstacles include two short ziplines. Plus, you can walk the plank and step right out to the edge to get a dizzying look over the side of the ship.
You'll take on rope walls, slacklines and thin beams before finding your way to the end of the course. The activity is free and also available on Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway.
LivNordic Spa on Viking Ocean Cruises
The LivNordic Spa is an immersive spa facility available on all Viking Ocean Cruises. Access is included in your cruise fare.
LivNordic Spa on Viking Ocean Cruises.
All of Viking's ocean 930-passenger cruise ships feature these large spa facilities.
Passengers can immerse themselves in the traditional Norwegian spa experience -- you get a sauna, steam room, cold plunge pool, thalassotherapy pool, snow grotto, hot tubs, cold dump bucket and experience shower. The elegant thermal suite also has ceramic loungers, padded lounge chairs and a full locker room.
The best part: it's included in your cruise fare, which is unheard of for such an immersive cruise ship spa.
Picture
Helicopters on Scenic Eclipse.
This luxury expedition ship takes cruisers to new heights while exploring exotic destinations around the world in style.
The 228-passenger ship carries two six-passenger helicopters, and you can pay to take 20- or 40-minute rides to get a bird's-eye view of amazing places that are best seen from above. We tried it out in Martha's Vineyard, and we have heard amazing reviews of these helicopters rides over Antarctica.
The choppers feature noise-canceling headphones, and the pilot gives a commentary of the flight.
It's quite a thrill to take off a land right from your ship -- which also carries a six-passenger submarine onboard that can dive up to nearly 1,000 feet below the surface. This gives travelers more amazing ways to see the world.

Which of these trend-setting onboard cruise attractions are you most interested in giving a try on your next cruise?
