San Francisco sightseeing
Highlight: We arrived in our embarkation port of San Francisco a day early, which gave us a chance to explore one of the most interesting cities in the world. We walked out to Municipal Pier and Hyde Street Pier to get views back to the city and across the bay at Alcatraz Island.
What else: Lunch was at the historic Pier 23 restaurant, and we also discovered Jacks Cannery Bar, where they have 68 brews on tap. We settled in there for a few varieties and watched the Kentucky Derby and NBA playoff hoops. Our wanderings also brought us to Ghirardelli Square for the first time, the Maritime Museum and Aquatic Park (a beach in the city) and a nice dinner at Sabella and La Torre right in Fisherman's Wharf, where Colleen got a nice piece of fish and a bowl of clam chowder.
